Last week the Police caught a thief in Riga using bait – a bicycle which had been equipped with a GPS tracker. The 17-year-old thief, who had been accused before, was caught as he chose to steal a bicycle which, to his surprise, turned out to be bait used by the police.
The head of Riga Criminal Police claims this to be one of the most effective ways to catch thieves quickly and easily, and besides, it allows catching a thief right in the act. This method has been used since 2011, and as of now, it is planned to increase the amount of bait bicycles in Riga.
