EU´s unimpolyment level still 11% = almost 27 million people

unemployedEuropean Union’s seasonally adjusted unemployment level was 11% this September. Therefore, it did not change since August. Initial estimates, however, predicted that the average unemployment level of EU should have been 10.9%, according to Eurostat.

Eurozone’s September unemployment level was 12.2% – also the same as it was in August. Eurozone’s unemployment remains record-high.

Initial estimates, however, suggested that August unemployment of Eurozone should have been 12%.

Eurostat’s data shows that there were 26,872 million unemployed persons in the EU this September. This includes 19,447 million in Eurozone.

Compared with August, the number of unemployed persons in the EU had increased by 61,000 persons and 60,000 persons in Eurozone this September.

Compared with the same month of 2012, the number of unemployed persons in Europe had increased by 978,000 and 996,000 in Eurozone in September 2013.

The highest unemployment level is currently noted in Spain (26.6%), Croatia (17.2%) and Cyprus (17.1%).

Data regarding unemployment in Latvia and Estonia this August are not available. According to data for Q2 2013, Latvia’s unemployment level was 11.3%.

The lowest unemployment level is registered in Austria (4.9%), Germany (5.2%) and Luxembourg (5.9%).

Lithuania’s unemployment was 11.7% this September.
