Taking political responsibility for the Zolitude tragedy, Latvia’s Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis has decided to resign from his post. Dombrovskis announced his decision shortly after his meeting with President of Latvia Andris Berzins this Wednesday, November 27.
Dombrovskis said Latvia will need a government that will not only receive support from the majority of the parliament but will also be able to resolve the situation in the country.
BNN had previously reported that the tragedy in Zolitude had claimed the lives of 54 people last week. This tragedy is the largest since the restoration of Latvia’s independence.
