Poland marks boom in home appliances

poland washingmachinesThe production of white goods in Poland is reaching record levels with 80 percent now being exported. By the close of 2013, Poland will have produced some 20 million units, taking in washing machines, dishwashers and refrigerators, with the latter seeing the biggest boom.

“Poland is becoming the European leader in the production of large home appliances,” said Wojciech Konecki, director-general of Poland’s Association of Manufacturers of Home Appliances.

Konecki noted that the demand for Polish white goods has been rising sharply in Eastern Europe, while Russia has become the fourth biggest importer of the Polish products. He added that “we are counting on the development of the most important markets, namely Germany, France, Britain and Italy.”

He reflected that while domestic sales have stagnated somewhat this year, they tend to shoot up at the end of the year. Some 20,000 people are employed in the home appliances sector in Poland, taking in twenty-five factories.
