European Commissioner reprimands Denmark on privacy project

private dataThe Danish government is stalling theongoing EU-negotiations on the protection of personal data,  Viviane Reding, European Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship claims.

In the daily Politiken the Danish Minister for Justice Morten Bødskov argues that the text does not sufficiently take into account differences in existing rules in different countries, and that it does not offer users sufficient protection.

The proposed project for harmonised regulation on the protection of personal data aims to  reinforce consumers’ control over their own data and to simplifiy the rules for companies.
