Easy money earned combined with cheap flight last year tempted nearly 230 young males from the three Baltic countries into drug smuggling. They were arrested in countries outside their own territory statistics from Re: Baltica centre shows.
The largest number of drug couriers came from Latvia and Lithuania. 30 arrested drug couriers came from Estonia, 100 from Latvia and Lithuania each, as LTV and Latvian Radio reports with reference to Re: Baltica centre.
According the reprot only 10% of the total number of drug couriers get arrested from time to time. Based on this assumption, there are more than 2 000 Baltic residents involved in drug traffic.
