Taking into account Russia’s activities in Ukraine, by annexing one of the country’s territories, the Latvian Defense Ministry and the National Armed Forces have suspended military cooperation with Russia, LETA was informed by Defense Ministry spokesman Andis Jekabsons.”Evaluating Russia’s actions, as well as calls by the international community to solve the situation through diplomacy, it is unacceptable for Latvia to cooperate with the Russian armed forces,” Defense Minister Raimonds Vejonis points out.
Vejonis emphasized that cooperation up until now with Russia was relatively constructive.
”However, the current tension created by Russia forces us to take such a step,” Vejonis added.
