One in three women can’t afford vacation

sweden vacationOn the eve of the annual Swedish summer vacation season, a new report says one in three working women here can’t afford to go away on holiday.

According to the newspaper Aftonbladet, the report from the Swedish Trade Union Confederation says those with the least opportunities for a getaway are less educated women. Thirty-five percent say they can’t afford to travel.

That compares to 9 percent of women with higher education. In both cases the number of men who say they can afford to get away is slightly higher.

According to Statistics Sweden, last year six out of ten Swedes said they could afford a vacation away from home for at least a week. That number has risen slightly in recent years.
