State of emergency may be declared in several Lithuania’s districts due to swine fever

swine fluSwine flu bacteria found in parts of Lithuania. The authorities plan to declare a state of emergency in the districts of Varėna, Trakai, Alytus and Šalčininkai in response to the detection of African swine fever in the country.

Interior Minister Dailis Alfonsas Barakauskas told reporters after the meeting of the governmental Emergencies Commission that the decision to declare the state of emergency still had to be approved by the government.
