More and more young people are getting strokes. Since the mid-1990s the number of men getting strokes has increased by 18 percent. For women in the same age group, it has increased by 16 percent, according to Sweden’s Public Health Agency.
“The increase in this age group is worrying. There can be devastating consequences for those afflicted and their dependents. They often have children and family who are affected,” the Public Health Agency’s Inger Helmerson told SVT Rapport.
“It is unclear what is causing the increase,” Helmerson said.
