Coal and gas instead of nuclear power

The large-scale project of building a nuclear power plant at Neman seem to exist on paper only . This tells the newspaper ” Kommersant” .

The construction of a nuclear power plant low or medium power at Neman one can thus shut down until further notice. A spokesman for the Russian Ministry of Energy pointed out that in the event of  Lithuania leaving the common power supply system  any power failure in the area could be critical to serious consequences .

To prevent this, you would need an independent regional power system with 900 MW reserve capacity . The current performance of the Kaliningrad power lies at 954 megawatts…….Thus one is inclined to think that gas and coal would best in this situation as an energy source in question. (more)
