Denmark joins US, UK in bolstering Baltic Air Policing Mission

F 16Denmark will send six F-16 fighter to the Baltics for four months from the beginning of May to due to the effect the Ukraine crisis has had on international security.

Danmarks Radio, the Danish public broadcasting service, said the move is to show solidarity with the Baltic nations.

The US sent six additional F-15 fighter jets to Lithuania to take part in the NATO Air Policing mission over the Baltics at the beginning of March. The mission is conducted in four-month rotations, and is currently in the hands of the US, which will now has 10 fighters at the Šiauliai air base.

UK Secretary of State for Defense Philip Hammond said in mid-March his nation will also offer additional Typhoon fighters for the NATO mission, while France has also signaled a willingness to give air support.
