Revelations in Germany - and in Europe - of giant tax evasions by stashing money abroad in tax havens gets Wolfgang Schäuble, German finance minister, to suggest establishing a kind of “tax FBI”.
In Süddeutsche Zeitung daily newspaper Schäuble welcomes more enforcement capability to pursue scofflaws. If the 16 separate German states wanted “the federal tax office to have more power to combat tax dodging, then that would clearly be a welcomed step,” the Christian Democratic politician said.
