Amazon to employ thousands in western Poland

poland amazonE-commerce giant Amazon is carrying out a huge recruitment as it prepares to launch its three Polish logistics centres.

Amazon may soon become a major employer in western Poland, with jobs available for some 8,500 people within the next three months. Total employment at the firm’s Polish units is expected to reach up 12,000.

The group’s operational director for CEE, Kerry Person, has said that the gross pay will be some 2,500 zloty (just under 600 euro). Construction is nearly completed at the company’s three sites near Poznan and Wroclaw.

The logistics centre in Sady near Poznan is set to open first, on 15 September this year. Another Amazon warehouse will open on 29 September in Bielany Wroclawskie. The third one, scheduled to open on 6 October, is also located near Wroclaw.

Each of the centres will employ 500-2,000 people on a regular basis. The number of jobs will grow temporarily in the peak season each year, between October and the end of December. Amazon announced plpans to build logistics centres in Poland last year.

The warehouses are designed to take over some of the work done in the company’s western European facilities. Surprisingly enough, Amazon does not have a Polish version of its e-commerce site and it has not announced plans to create one despite locating logistics in Poland.
