Amid increased concern over the flow of Russian tourists to Baltic states, Estonian Foreign Ministry says its consular officials are not short of visa applications.
The consuls in Russia issued 60,000 visas in the first six months of 2014, which is slightly less than in the respective periodi n 2013, ERR reports.
The drop in Russian tourist numbers has hit Latvia and Lithuania comparatively more, as Estonia offers multiple visas at one time, Irina Tjurina, a representative of Russian tourism companies, said to ERR.
Tarmo Punnik, of the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, explained that Estonia has 12 consular officials in three Russian cities and the slight drop in the number of visas issued is due to more multiple visas being handed out.
