Poland investigates own amber deposits

amber1Since the Kaliningrad amber Company intends to place the export of its goods until further on icethe Polish Amber processors and sellers think about how they might come in the future to the coveted commodities.

As is well known, the world’s largest amber deposits are located in the Kaliningrad region. Poland can be no serious competition in this sense, probably.

According to the state Geology Institute of Poland amber deposits which are located on Polish territory are estimated at ca.1.118 tons. The occurrence in the Kaliningrad region should not be less than 700,000 tons.

Nowadays the Polish city of Gdansk is known worldwide as the largest center for amber trade. However, the resulting sudden lack of raw amber and the price increase associated pose a threat to the survival of the industry. This causes Poland to look for  getting use of their own sources. To date four amber deposits have been discovered, including one near Gdansk. The following breakdown of amber is already in planning.
