How to save women’s lives in Lithuania?

cancerLithuania continues to hit various cancer-related records, the recent European Parliament meeting on oncological issues showed, informs.

Lithuania is second on the list of cervical cancer cases. The special programme that was implemented to raise awareness did not live up to the expectations. 15 million Litas assigned to the programme remain unused.

Number of cancer patients is growing

Cancer is a headache for all EU member states. Although some indicators show improvement, general statistics remains unsettling. Over the past five years the cases of cancerous diseases increased by 11 per cent, and are expected to jack up by a jaw-dropping 75 per cent over the two upcoming decades. Developing countries will mostly suffer from the human papilloma virus.
