Risk of Ukrainian refugees flooding the Baltics

ukraineThe Estonian Interior Ministry’s undersecretary for internal security, Erkki Koort, said if the situation in Ukraine continues to deteriorate, a flood of refugees could travel to the European Union, including to Estonia.

“We have a sizable Ukrainian community, and the existence of a community usually means that more people may move there,” Koort told Postimees on Wednesday.

He said Poland and Lithuania would take the bulk of the refugees, but looking at the vast number of potential refugees, many European nations could by have such a problem.

Merle Maigre, the Estonian President’s adviser on security issues, said that Ukraine could turn into a second Belarus.

She said that the terminology used by the Ukrainian powers resembles what Russia used when beginning military operations in Chechnya.

  1. “many European nations could have such a problem” - such a problem? What an idiotic expression is that? People need help and they are called “a problem”? That’s why fat-Europe does not want to help Ukraine - because it is a problem… Outrageous!
